THE 2017 DIAMOND MILE was launched at the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

Ms. Dahlia Harris was the MC for the launch. Mr. Vitus Evans (Executive Director-BG&LC) offered the Welcome, while Mr. Paul Hoo (Chairman-SVL Group Ltd) gave the sponsors remarks. There was also a message from Mr. Clovis Metcalfe (Chairman -BG&LC), the Diamond Mile Host.

Mr. Denzil Miller Jr. (Racing Secretary, SVREL) offered the racing details surrounding the conditions of the race and Mr. Christopher Armond (Director of Racing, SVREL) gave an industry perspective of the Diamond Mile on behalf of the promoter.

Others present were Mr. Anthony Shoucair, Chairman of the Jamaica Racing Commission, Mr. Brando Hayden, COO, Supreme Ventures Racing & Entertainment Limited, Executives and staff of BG&LC, JRC and Supreme Ventures Group and Members of the Media and various representatives from the Racing Industry.

The winning team behind SEEKING MY DREAM’S victory in the 2015 and 2016 running of the Diamond Mile (GR.I) were special guests – Duane and Jay Smith representing their father, Owner Derrick Smith C.D., Wayne DaCosta O.D., Omar Walker and Linval McFarlane.

THE COMMEMMORATIVE TROPHY valued at $500,000 will be won outright by the winning owner. The winning Breeder, Trainer, Jockey and Groom will also receive Trophies. ALL INCENTIVES DONATED BY THE BETTING GAMING AND LOTTERIES COMMISSION, and SUPREME VENTURES RACING & ENTERTAINMENT LIMITED.

1. Nomination fee $80,000 payable to SUPREME VENTURES RACING & ENTERTAINMENT LIMITED AS FOLLOWS:

(i) $10,000 on or before 2:00pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017(non-refundable)
(The list of entrants will be published on/or before Friday, November 3, 2017).

(ii) $70,000 on or before 5:00pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017 (refundable only if the
horse is scratched by the JRC/CTL Veterinarian, Starter)
(The list of entrants will be published on/or before Monday, November 27, 2017).

(iii) All Trainers must confirm participation of their horse/s in writing (entry blank) with
the Racing Office by 5:00pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

(iv) The declaration of Jockeys, equipment, medication (lasix) will close at 11:30am on
Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

(v) The draw for post position will be at approximately 2:00pm on
Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

2. Native-Bred- Horses foaled in Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago
Imported - Horses not foaled in Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago.

2 kg penalty will be applied to Imported Horses that are not domiciled in Jamaica ,Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago for less than 2 months prior to December 2, 2017. This penalty will also be applicable to Imported horses that have been domiciled in Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago for more than 2 months and have not raced.

2 kg allowance will be applied to Imported horses that have been domiciled in Jamaica prior to January 1, 2017.

If at the close of entries there is no horse/s entered whose weight is 57kg, then the highest
weighted horse/s will be adjusted upward to 57 kg and all other horse/s will be adjusted upward
accordingly.
***NO APPRENTICE CLAIMS ALLOWED***

3. Maximum field is 16
(a) 10 positions will be reserved for horses domiciled in Jamaica for more than two
months prior to December 2, 2017. Horses will be selected based on the following:

(i) Automatic first preference entry to the winners of the 2017 running of:
The Jamaica Derby(GR.I); The Superstakes(GR.I); The Caribbean Sprint Championship
(GR.I); and the Caymanas Invitational Mile (GR.I).(Nomination fee applicable)

(ii)All other horses will be selected based on their year-to-date earnings (JMD$)
(Jan. 1, 2017 – November 25, 2017). Earnings in Restricted Stakes, Restricted
Allowances, Maiden and Claiming races are not considered.

(b) The remaining 6 positions will be reserved:
(i) For horses domiciled in Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago for more than two
months prior to December 2, 2017.

(ii) Horses being imported directly to Jamaica from any other recognized racing
jurisdiction less than 2 months prior to December 2, 2017.

(c) In the event that there are no horses from Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and/or
horses imported from any other recognized racing jurisdiction, the remaining 6 or any
part thereof will be filled by horses domiciled in Jamaica for more than two months
prior to December 2, 2017.

(d) All horses declared to start on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 are subject to a
veterinary check on Thursday, November 30, 2017 by 12 noon.
